5 months / 22 Weeks

Believe it or not, I'm 5 months pregnant now! .... Or 22 weeks if u follow how the medical profession counts it.

It was been amazing so far and I can't stop thanking God for giving me a relatively stress free pregnancy. No morning sickness or nausea at all. In fact, my hair is more lustrous and is growing fast and falls in beautiful layers. My face is glowing and is not too oily. And my boobs are as big and lovely as ever. Despite being pregnant, I have a bounce in my step and I've not slowed down at all.

Apart from giving up smoking entirely, cutting down alcohol and coffee by 95%, there's not much other changes in lifestyle.

The only angst I have is extremely itchy and flaky and dry skin on my body and extremities. This results in investing in mild shower creams (yes, and adding on to my collection of a few hundred bottles of different toiletries), taking more showers and constantly lotioning every inch of my body. I do this about 3 times a day. So it's a bit of a hassle but it does provide relief. And I'd take this any day compared to having morning sickness.

Life has also been pretty busy with work, my event planning, educating ourselves with all things to do with baby, going baby window shopping, doing actual baby stuff shopping soon, packing, planning the renovation on our new place (yes we are moving and I can't want to work on the baby room!), moving to the new place, going for pre natal yoga ...

There's just so much to do so I'm sorry if I disappoint some of you with less updates on this blog.

I will do my best to share all the exciting news with you. :)

congratulations!

i had those itches too n my advice is to slather lots of baby oil n lotion but most importantly, DO NOT gain to much weight. i ate like crazy n gained 17 kgs n now have silverish stripes--stretch marks--all over my belly :(

baby must be kicking now. such a wonderful feeling ya!

I take a cold shower twice a day and i slather lotion at least 4 times a day. Double layers at least! Helps slightly.

I put on 15 kgs already even tho i don't eat like crazy and it does show.

Yes the kicking is magical indeed! My hubby and I play with her every night and she responds! :)

Sounds like you are having a girl! ^.^ And from your earlier comment response, I take it that you are having a girl?

My sis just had a baby girl on 19th March in Chicago. I was there for the birth. It was such an amazing experience!

Also, she had the same pregnancy symptoms as you (or the other way round). ^.^

Yup it's a girl! Well at least thats what my obgyn says. Everyone is telling me that I'm having a boy. Guess people still believe strongly in old wives tales vs technology.

Congrats on being an aunty!

Were u there for the actual birth ie in the labour room? Wow u so so brave. Haha!

Same symptoms? Ask her how do i stop my skin from itching! It may be my only pregnancy gripe but it's really killing me.

Congratulations dear! Pregnancy sometimes does have mysterious effects on our body. I hope your itching will go away soon! Have you tried cocoa butter?

Hi babes! Yes, cocoa butter, body butter, creams, lotions, moisturisers, baby oil, body oil, medicated oil, medicated cream, moisturing cream, ... u name it. Spent a small fortune so far. Guess the only thing that will stop the itching is to actually give birth. Haha! Oh well that 2 months + away so I'll live. :)

Sounds like severe itching there. I think hers wasn't as bad. I really don't know what to recommend. From the sound of it you have tried virtually everything except for olive oil. Hopefully the itching stop soon. :/

The birth wasn't that scary. It was amazing! I hope Paul will be able to experience the whole process. ^.^

Highlight of my life!

I have tried the Palmers Olive Oil. That didn't help much either.

What was her birth plan? Fully natural? Hypnobirthing? Epi? C-Sec?

U were there in the labour room to witness it??

She didn't tell me what her birth plan was but she had to be induced after 3 days overdue. Baby arrived on 19th March, a week after I was in Chicago.

She had a natural birth with the wonderful epidural. She highly recommends it.

Yes, I was there at the labour room. It was a really big room, flat screen tv and a beautiful view out the window.

We were there since 7am and the baby arrived at 8.27pm. We watched tv as well as DVD and they had free wifi which was a boost. ^.^

The midwife came to check her prolly about 7.30pm and then it was time to have baby. My sister did say that she didn't have the soothing music as she had envisaged but we had 'what not to wear' on tv at that time... LOL!

Yes epi seems like the choice of most labouring mothers. Epi will be my plan B.

Yes it does sound like a wonderful birth. Haha!

I'm planning to bring a birthing ball, some DVD box set of sitcomes, some books, birthing music, bubble wrap, colouring books and some toys. I told this to the mid wife during parenting class and she looked at my funny. Oh well, it's my birthing experience! Haha!
