Last Day At Work

Today is my last day at work and I'm feeling elated!

When I leave a company, no matter how sucky it was, I usually feel slightly heavy hearted. Maybe it's the long hours spent there. Maybe it's the hard work put in and the work pushed out. Maybe it's the friends I made. Maybe it's a slight fear that it's the wrong move.

But this time, I feel none of the above. I just feel so happy and free. So .... right.

To all my friends, thank you for your support, encouragement and happiness for the decision I've made to quit my job to be a stay home mum. Thank you for all the Facebook posts and all the calls and SMSes.
I haven't been congratulated this much since I got pregnant.
I didn't even think congratulations were in order. But now that I think about it, it is totally appropriate.

Although I know that this is the right move for me, it feels even better to be validated and supported.

I am also thankful for Lord Gaga for totally supporting this decision.

I'm so loved.

Stay At Home Mum

My Facebook is exploding with comments. Why? Because my status is:
"Bubbles has quit her job. Last day this Friday. I'm going to be a stay at home mum!:D"
And the comments are still growing and flooding in. Before I reply 1, 2 more appear.

It is surprising and shocking I guess. Especially since I just returned to work.

But that's the exact reason why this is the best time! I just got back and have not started work on any projects. So I told management I wanted to leave and negotiated not to serve my notice period. They agreed.

So I'm outta her on Friday. Just one more working day to go since tomorrow is a public holiday.
I've been a salaried worker for all of my working life. So to quit without a job just like that is scary. But it feels so right. I want to be there for Aydreanne's milestones. I want to just be there. She started to coo a word that sounds like "Hello". She smiles when you help her clap her hands. She cries shen you put her on her tummy and she's not strong enough to crawl forward yet. She beams when it's bath time. She fusses before bed because she wants to watch TV. I want to be there for all those moments.

After being a mom, a 9-5 job is no longer for me. I never thought I'd ever want it but I do feel that being a stay at home mum is probably one of the best decisions I've made.

Mummy's Faceook. Babies Pic

Why is it that once a person, especially females, become mothers, they seem to loose their identity? Willingly. An example is Facebook. I’ve people looking me up then adding me. And when I check their profile to see if I really do know these people or not, all I see is a pic of a kid. A kid I don’t know. I then look for alternate pics of the person and very often, there are none. Just the one pic of the kid. So how do I identify who is the person adding me if I don’t recognize the name nor the pic? On top of that, married women often change their names to take on their husband’s surnames. Not to forget many people have ‘glamour’ names too. That just adds to the confusion especially for people you’ve not met in a while.

I can understand loving your kid so much that every chance you get, you post up their pic. Some have Facebooks accounts for their babies. That’s fine too. But for your own Facebook account?

I don’t get it. But since so many mothers do it, maybe I’ll only understand when I become a mum.

Happy Birthday Lim Kit Siang!

Now that Lim Kit Siang is a ‘friend’ on my Facebook, I know that it’s his birthday! Happy birthday Uncle Lim!

And now that we’re ‘friends’, I’ve been reading his blog and he seems to have so many supporters. And they’re all really passionate and ready to give their time and money to DAP.

Among my peers, most of us have been quite blasé about Malaysian politics. That is, until lately. I’m not sure if it’s due to our age that we feel we’re adults now and should excursive or right to vote. Or because we know BN is screwing things up. Or because the ethnic minorities are feeling more discrimination than usual.

No one I know is going to vote for BN in the coming elections on 8th March 2008. The general sentiment is to vote for anyone but BN so that they do not get 2/3 majority. While they will still win due to certain things which they do, a lot of people are trying not to let them win as much as they’re used to.

BN needs to know that they have slacked and that the rakyat knows it too. Sometimes their slacking off is so apparent, it’s laughable. But unfortunately that's our country for you.

I don’t know much about Malaysian politics but I’m starting to learn more.

And it all started by me petting Lim Kit Siang’s Fluff Friend!

Facebook Is Taking Over My Life

Facebook is taking over my life! I’m more than addicted! I’m obsessed!

I started playing with Happy Hour among many other applications but Happy Hour was fun cos alcohol is something I can relate to.

Then I was playing superlatives especially when Fruitcake tells me that I’m the second most voted to ‘Wear a bunny suit for no apparent reason’ among everyone who has the superlatives application on Facebook.

And now I’m hooked onto (fluff)friends on Facebook. As soon as I get into work, I pet Billy. If I have munny, I feed him.

Sin Cyn and I are going to pet each other’s fluff friends in order for the other person to each money.

I just had a half hour conversation with Marsupial discussing the different ways we can make out fluff friends go faster, be petted more without us spending time clicking every 5 seconds, be fed more, be in better moods and the many factors which come into play when they race and what are the winning factors.

On of Marsupial’s friend now has 22,000 munny! They should have an application where u can transfer munny to friends!

Guess I’m not so bad as Marsupial’s friend actually stay up the entire night to play with Pets in order to make his rabbit stronger and have more armour.

Still, this is madness. Facebook is taking over my life! Help!

Anyway, please come pet Billy. I still need more munny.

Bubbles got a Marsupial and Marsupial got a Poley Bear

I spent 160 munny buying Billy a habitat and it’s disappeared! I’ve very upset with the Fluff Friends application. Billy lost his home! They should sell insurance too so we can buy in case our pet’s home gets stolen, eaten, blown away or eaten by other pets who’s owners don’t feed them.

Marsupial got a poley bear! That’s so sweet. Marsupial! Of all people. And he’s turned artsy fartsy too (he recommended that I go watch Frogway). He says he’s always been artsy fartsy (without wearing pink coloured shirts) but I never knew that side of him from the many years we were friends.

Marsupial got a poley bear called Freckles and I got a marsupial wallaby called Billy!

Oh, Billy’s habitat is back. Forgot to press the ‘set habitat’ button. Hahahaha!

James Must Feed Billy the Wallaby To Be My Insurance Agent

Like so many other people out there, I'm addicted to Facebook. Even though I was very reluctant to start. Now thanks to Sin Cyn and about 10 other friends, I'm hooked onto the Superlatives application but that seems to be giving way to Fluff Friends. I have a wallaby named Billy and he's so cute.

Hee Hean asked me this morning if I have a real wallaby. I told him that just cos Billy lives on Facebook, it doesn't mean he's not real. I bought him a habitat and he needs to be fed and petted constantly. And if he's ignored and not fed, he dies! I miss him when I go offline and feed sad to leave the fella alone.

I'm quite upset with a Prudential agent. A friend of a friend contacted me to sell insurance to me. While I'm keen on the policy, I also need to know my insurance agents / unit trust agents / bankers / etc fairly well and I need to see them as friends.

And most of my friends are on Friendster and now Facebook. So i asked the Prudential guy to join Facebook or I won't sign with him. I sent him a SMS lately to find out if he has joined Facebook. He hasn't and he didn't even reply my SMS! Not very good right? I'm thinking I shouldn't sign with him since he ignores his customers and I'm a potential one.

So now in order for me to sign with him, he needs to not only join Facebook and add me but also:
1. Get the Fluff Friend application via my invite (so i can earn munny and buy Billy a zen penthouse suite)
2. Get a Fluff Friend
3. Feed Billy
4. Pet Billy.

James, when you read this, u know what to do before u pass the policy to me. ;)

Bubbles Didn't Do the Sun Salutation Today

I was supposed to go for a trial class at Yoga Zone today but
1. It was raining
2. I had work
3. Cyn was sick and had work
4. I was lazy

So I'm in the office blogging and playing with Facebook.

Facebook is evil. Like E TV!, it sucks u in and you need to fight hard to logout / shut off / shut down.

Most Likely To Get Caught Wearing a Bunny Costume for No Apparent Reason

Okay, so Friendster is so 5 years ago and everyone is migrating to Facebook. As it stands, more than 3 million Malaysians are on Friendster. Wonder how long it will take for the some amount to overtake Facebook.

I finally succumbed to peer pressure as I was tired of every other person asking me to join Facebook.

I just felt that Friendster was good enough (actually I was just too lazy to set up the new Facebook account, re-write profiles, and add friends). But it turned out for the better as I’ve found friends I’ve not talk to in more than 10 years from all around the world.

While it’s fun and has a multitude of applications, I find that its way too cluttered and too much stuff going on. That’s why if you’re busy working 10 hours are the office a day, it’s going to be hard to keep track of what’s going on in your account.

After not checking in for more that a day, I found that I have 3 beers, 1 mimosa, 1 amaretto sour, 1 mojito, 1 cosmopolitan, 1 pair of blue balls, 1 special brownie, a bunny rabbit, a pink daisy, a purple tulip, a mouse, a sheep, 2 sun flowers, 2 bites, 2 dares, 5 questions, 1 drink recipe and 2 fortunes. And about 8 more new applications where people can send me drinks, flowers, animals and fish and can poke, super poke, hug, kiss, spoon, compare, double dare, bike, cast spells on me and more.

Of all the 20 or so applications, I find Superlatives the most fun. As it stands, 14 friends have voted that I’m ‘Most Likely To Get Caught Wearing a Bunny Costume for No Apparent Reason’.

You guys! ……….. You know me so well!
