Irritating Single Digit Car Registration Numbers

Recently a few cars with single digit car registration numbers have been irritating me on the road. Trying to bully Zach! Cutting into Zach’s lane … WITHOUT signaling. How rude! They are namely:

WEF 7 Black BMW X5

And

MAY 4 Silver Mercedes

Encounters with both those cars were in the Mont Kiara area. MAY 4 was a few days ago. WEF 7 was just this morning.

Who do they think they are? Single digits ….. so they are important? Rich? Rubbish! They are rubbish drivers and the cars should be taken away from them and they should be made to take the bus. May the fumes of the bus fill their lungs and may the smoke darken their faces. Idiots!

My Recent Fixation With Rabbits / Tracker's Day Out

Seems like it started when I bunnie-sat Waffle and Snuffles a few months ago.

Recently I’ve had a fixation with rabbits.

I’ve been playing this bunny game called Rayman Raving Rabbid’s. The bunnies are cute but very menacing. One of my favourite games is shooting the rabbits with a toilet plunger before they shoot you. Or shooting carrot juice at their snorkels and drowning them before they whack you with the plunger.

When Paul and I was at this store in 1U a week or so ago, we saw this cute t shirt with humping bunnies. He bought that for me.

Pic courtesy of Sin Cyn from her Motorola which she's yet to change to Sony Ericsson ;)

We were at 1U again another time when we saw that Nike came out with a new t shirt design, with a bunny wearing a pair of Nike Air. He bought that for me too. Well I think it’s more of a hare.

(I also recently have a thing for yellow duckies and turtles / tortoises)

The next day, Paul and I brought the hare and Tracker out. He (Tracker) hasn’t been to Doggie Day at the BU Park in quite a while so I decided to bring him to 1U instead. Dogs seem to love car rides and Tracker is no exception. He even tried driving the car and Paul let him.

Nokia N73 vs Sony Ericsson K800

I’ve been a loyal user of Nokia mobile phones for the last 10 years. They are pretty, simple, functional and very user friendly.

That is until they came up with their new batch of phones. I bought the N73 when they came up with the N Series. The phone is well designed and comes with jam packed amounts of functions. Unfortunately it is so sssssllllllooooooooooooooooo wwwwwww.

It can take up to 5 minutes to send one (1) SMS. It resets itself several times a day. It hangs when a call comes through. It takes 2 minutes for the camera to start up. The phone really pissed me off and I was complaining all the time. What use is a phone when you can’t do basic functions like make / receive calls and SMSes? I’m not even talking about the rest of the functions like music player and games.

So Paul bought me the Sony Ericsson K800i. And one for himself too. And we spent about an hour last night video calling each other. It’s so fun and it has different options to play with too. Better make the most of it while 3G is still not widely used and video calling is still free cos the telco’s are trying to promote it.

Yes I’ve finally gone over to the other side. So far I find that the graphics are better and there are more functions. I’m still in the transitional period. I need to get to the stage where I can use the phone without looking at it. That may take a while since the interface is different from that of Nokia’s. Then I’ll do a proper comparison of the 2 brands.

A Non Clubbing Version 4.0 Weekend

It was a good weekend. One which I achieved 1,2, 3 and 12 from the list of Non-Clubbing activities and even added a few more items to the list.

The weekend started on Friday night where Paul and I watched the Pursuit of Happyness. Such sad and heartwarming story. Makes me appreciate all that I have. Believe that most of us reading this have not ever been that broke that we do not have a roof over our heads. What more being in that position with a child to take care off. Even if we don’t have much money in the bank, most of us are fortunate enough to have parents or friends who can be that safety net. It’s just a question of whether we chose to use that safety net or not. So we will never experience that feeling where you’re not only at your wit’s end but also have a broken spirit with no light whatsoever at the end of the tunnel.

On Saturday, Paul coloured my hair in Revlon Light Redish Brown. He did a good job even though I was squirming and not able to sit still. I was running about and had to be content with colouring my colouring book while waiting for the colour to set.

Then we headed out to 1U to meet Michelle Shell to watch 300. Isn’t Gold Class great? I love the chair which reclines so that I can stretch / move / squirm / lie straight / sit cross legged / sit with legs folded and the best part – there’s no one close enough to you to hear them talk or for them to kick your chair (which is what happened while watching Pursuit of Happyness in the normal cinemas).

I can understand why everyone is raving about 300. Or why the movie only took a few months to shoot on blue screen followed by a year of CGI. It was so beautifully shot that I didn’t think it was gory or bloody. Can someone tell me if those 8 packs on the men are real??!

We spent most of the sunlight hours of Sunday lazing around at home drinking coffee and chatting. The TV wasn’t even switched on. It’s so amazing when you can immerse yourself with another person and not have the need of external factors for entertainment.

And that was my mellow weekend which I enjoyed immensely. I’ll target the other items and the Non Clubbing Activity list next weekend.

Bubbles Non Clubbing Version 4.0

Was thinking of what to do this weekend. And I came up with this list:

  1. Watch movies at the cinema
  2. Watch DVDs at home
  3. Play PS2
  4. Bounce on the ball in the gym (I’m not a big fan of working on the actual machines)
  5. Play in the playground and pretend that I’m 7
  6. Make use of the wonderful swimming pool at Paul’s place
  7. Have a mini barbeque party in the fragrant garden at Paul’s place
  8. Play ping pong
  9. Take long drives for good food
  10. Take short day trips
  11. Cook dinner at home
  12. Stay home, have coffee, smoke cigarettes and chat

That’s quite a list. The most amazing thing about the list is that “Clubbing” isn’t on it. I didn’t even consider putting it in until Paul asked if I wanted to go clubbing this weekend (I’m sure he’s just teasing by the amount of times I’ve said “No”).

I’m really looking forward to doing all those non-clubbing activities. I’m sure my friends are all in shock. I’m in shock myself. But it’s also something I feel a natural transition towards.

This is Bubbles Non Clubbing Version 4.0.

Bubbles Non Clubbing Version 3.0 wasn’t that long ago. But I’ve a feeling that Version 4.0 is here to stay.

The Domesticated Mellow Bubbles

Just a couple of months ago, I was wondering when my clubbing streak would end. I've been clubbing for 15 years and most of my friends are either married (some with kids) or still going out but doing the chilled out wine sipping thing. And I showed no signs of slowing down. In fact I was gaining more momentum. I was so bored, contantly needed to meet new people and therefore clubbing was the answer even though deep down I was getting bored of clubbing itself. But there wasn't any alternatives to weekend activities then. None that I was interested in anyway.

But lately, friends have been telling me that I've mellowed. I'm still me - still bouncy and still high, but seem to be on a different type of high. Another friend also pointed out that once you've found the love of your life, that's what happens automatically. U'll wanna stop going out so much, do more 'couply' things, do more sedated activities and stay home more and enjoy each other's company. Wise words indeed from a friend who's been married a few years.

It's so true. I've now experienced it for myself.

Paul and I checked into Le Meridien last weekend for a short getaway. After dinner at Chynna @ Hilton, he asked if I want to pop by to Zeta which was just a few yards away from the resturant. I said "no" and that I rather go back to the room and watch TV.

And last night, Paul said that I've not clubbed for so long and whether I'd like to go clubbing that night. Here , I have to explain that Paul is not a clubber at all. But there he was offering to bring me anyway cos he knows I enjoy it. And what happened? I said no yet again, I wasn't up to it and that I wanted to go home to pay PS2 and watch a DVD. Sin Cyn smsed to say that she was gonna be at Somo which is the bar right where I live and i even said no to that.

And once again today, Paul asked me if I wanted to go clubbing tonight. And I said "Probably not. How about a movie instead?".

What's going on here?! I've been invited to go out clubbing 3 times by my own boyfriend and I said no every single time? Bubbles is finally mellowing down and becoming domesticated. To a level that's shocking to my friends and myself alike.

But I'm not complaining. I knew this day would come. And guessed that it would probaly be brought about when I meet someone whom I'm totally happy and contented with and whom will fulfil me in more ways than one, causing me not want to look for artificial or short term highs.

I do look back at my clubbing days and have great memories of them, espcecially the years at Viva (who could forget Viva?). I'm sure I'll still club when there's a big enough event or occasion. But it's no longer a need in my life. I'm happy to leave them as wild memories and move on to a new phase in my life.

He Bought Me Hats and Pulls Rabbits Out of Hats

After dinner last night, my darling and I walked into Gap where he tried on a nice pair of cargos. He also wanted to buy me a Gap cap too, since I bought him one before this. While at the cashier, I spotted a beret. I always wanted a beret! Not many occasions to wear berets here in Malaysia, I know. I was choosing between the cap and the beret when he took both items and promptly paid for them. I didn’t need both the cap AND the beret but I did want them. Hehe! My darling pampers me so much.

And not only that, he is constantly pulling rabbits of the hat to make me laugh and keep me entertained. Friends know that I bore very easily but with my darling, that’s not happened, not even for a fraction of a second.

An old friend once told me, the guy whom I’ll finally end up with is one who can constantly keep me entertained. And I’ve finally found him. Didn’t think there was ever such a person out there but I’ve been proven wrong.

My stance on consuming shark's fin

I’m so sick of Chinese food. It’s only the 11th day of CNY and I‘ve had enough of yee sang, shark’s fin, abalone and the usual rich Chinese fare. Thank goodness the last CNY lunch with the client ended yesterday. There’s another CNY dinner with a supplier this Fri. It’s gonna be in a Jap restaurant tho. A bit odd but I welcome the change.

I’ve not eaten shark’s fin in the last 3 years. Mine are due to ethical reasons. The fins are cut off and the sharks are thrown back into the sea, left to fend for themselves when they can’t swim. That’s utterly cruel.

However, after thinking about it, the shark’s fins which are served in Chinese restaurants have probably been killed for dried and stored for a couple of years. So if the soup is prepared and served to me and if I don’t eat it, it will only be thrown away. So the shark would have died in vain. Poor shark.

So my new stance is that I would eat it if it was served to me during a wedding dinner or a banquet. But I will not willingly order it.

So please note that there will be no shark’s fin soup during my wedding dinner.

Come to think of it, there’s not even going to be a Chinese dinner.

Steak and Moet sounds better than shark’s fin, doesn’t it?

Bubbles is a Puddle

Everyday that we’re together is a celebration. He makes every single moment extra special.

Last night, after work, we went to 1U to check out rings at Selberan. Though it’s one of the premium brands around in KL, it’s still only about half the price of Tiffany’s. Think Carat Club’s price range is about the same as Selberan but as far as I can remember the last time I was in one of their stores, their engagement rings weren’t spectacular. Can’t think of any other premium jewelry stores. But my darling is bent on getting the creme de la creme. So, for now, we’re still set on Tiffany’s.

Then we went shopping for shorts for me. He bought me 2 pairs from FOS and Rip Curl.

After which we went to Jack’s Place. We had lobster bisque, oriental chicken wings (which he painstakingly deboned for me), prawn mango salad and steak.

After a cigarette and walking around, we ended the night with Haagen Dazs Macadamia Brittle, Panna Cotta & Raspberry and Belgian Chocolate.

My darling spoils me. He makes me melt. Bubbles is a puddle.

Shopping as an Attached Person

I’ve never enjoyed shopping (yes yes, I’m so not a girl in that way) and only shop when I have to get something specific. Now that Paul and I want to spend every single moment we have together, he’s of course with me when I need to buy stuff. Yesterday, we went looking for shorts for me.

To me, shorts are meant to be short. But when I’m going over to his parent’s house, I can’t wear my version of shorts. So we went hunting for ‘longer’ shorts. Took me a while cos all the ‘long’ shorts look so odd. Finally found 2 pairs tho in FOS and Rip Curl.

And I finally understand something which has perplexed me for the past few months. Why do guys hold their girlfriend’s handbags when they are walking in a mall?

When I was trying on the shorts, Paul helped me hold my handbag. And after I decided on the pair, he took the shorts, walks to the cashier, pays for it, and we walk out of the shop with him holding my new purchase as well as my handbag.

That’s how! One mystery solved.

Quite a few things about women perplex me. One of them why they ban their fiancée’s ex girlfriends from their weddings. Come on, the guy is going to marry u and not his ex. So what’s your issue with them? But that’s another gripe which I will elaborate on towards the end of the year.

1 month, 1 week and 1 day

So here we are. In a very new relationship but totally sure where we are headed.

Over the CNY holidays, I spent some time with Paul’s family and visiting his side of the relatives.

And he was sweet enough to drive me all the way to JB on the 2nd day of CNY to meet my dad, just for lunch. Think that earned him several brownie points from my dad. Especially since this was after all the first meeting. Though my dad did say a thing or 2 which sounded like it was out of ‘Meet the Parents’, it wasn’t as nightmarish as that. I had butterflies in my tummy just before we pulled up at the door. My dad isn’t the easiest guy to please. And u know how dads are with their daughters what more with me being his one and only. Couldn’t imagine what was going thru Paul’s mind (and heart and stomach) but the meeting went extremely well. So now we just have to wait for my mum to get back in May for the next ‘Meet The Parents' session but I foresee that to be a breeze.

1 months, 1 week and 1 day into the relationship and we’re talking about the wedding. And it’s not all talk. We went to Tiffany to look at rings. Of course we’ll be shopping around first but Tiffany is one of the ultimate rings out there. Very aspirational. But my darling looks pasts aspirational. He wants to makes ‘aspirational’ and ‘fairytale’ into a reality. As much as he can within our means. He is amazing and I love him so much.

Who would have thought 2 months ago ……. I’d be where I am now.

My dear friend Looqy who’s now in Boston studying for her masters read my blog and emailed me the sweetest message. Here’s an except from her mail:

“So many things flow in my mind when i read that. of cos, while reading your declaration of love and happiness, i feel a sense of happiness (like a parent when their child has found the love of their life) - trully am so happy for you (true love amidst this world of cruelty and uncertainty always prevails). but as i read further down for the past few months of your life...i felt that you are truly a person who isnt what you project to the world.

when i initially met you, i tot - geez this gal is nutty. n i didnt know how to really react to you, just tat since u are shan's friend and shan's someone dear to me i'll be cordial. but as we partied and had our coffees together, i felt like hei - there's something bout her that is warm and genuine. it's just all hidden under a facade tat is also part of her.

thank you for taking your time to make me a friend, for showing me some crazy fun times yet a sense of reality -having my feet rooted on the ground and confirming God's unwavering love and grace to give us our dreams in His due time. i have many friends whom i can count on and who loves me unconditionally (just like you) but none who can be a part of this crazy world (where black has turned to gray and white is unreal) and yet has the same idealism (yes many ppl think it's ideal but not real to find tat love of your life the way you describe it) and has shown me that that idealism is and can be a reality."

You have put it very well. Yes I project a crazy, loopy (and that’s why I’m Loopy and u r Looqy and we have Loony too tho she’s busy these days) insane persona sometimes. And while that is also a part of me, that’s not all that I am. Thank you for seeing past that and seeing the many facets of me. You and Paul and a handful of close friends have seen that side of me. Even some of the people I have gone out with before this didn’t see that. They really didn’t know me at all. So I’m sure it will come as a shock to them to see that I can quieten down and I can be stable and actually want to get married.

Yes, we should stick to what ideals which we have. Too many people settle in this day and age. They are unhappy but they swallow and plough through anyway. It will slowly eat them up inside. But it’s something I can understand as it’s due to the many pressures which society has placed on us. Even friends our own age can put the pressure on. But when the time is not right, it’s just not right and there’s no point forcing it. And when it’s right, it flows so smoothly and seamlessly. And you know in your heart that ‘This is it’. I truly believe that the brave will prevail in the end and will find that it was worth the fear and the wait. I will pray to God for you as I have done for myself and he will show you His plan in His time. Trust in Him and all will be delivered. My dearest Looqy. Thank you for your thoughts and wishes. Missing u loads over here and can’t wait to catch up with u when u get back to KL.

34 Days

A story 10 years in the making

Didn’t our life then seem a little lacking

The past 34 days has been amazing

We’re already talking about a wedding ring

In one moment our hearts touched

Never thought I could feel this much

Even if this sounds like a cliché

Your face brightens my day

Holding your hand in mine

It’s a feeling that’s divine

When you hold me in your arms

I could never feel any harm

When you hug me to sleep

I feel a comfort that is so deep

When we kiss, the world melts away

And the ground beneath me will sway

I love you with all my heart and soul

I’ve found someone who makes me whole

The missing piece of the puzzle

I will always be your girl

My darling Paul Wong

You are my heartsong

Now that you’ve come into my life

I can’t wait to be your wife

You’re the one I’ll love and obey

Happy Valentine’s Day

Now, Always, Forever and Eternity

10th Feb 2007

We have achieved yet another milestone in our relationship. Apart from being the best boyfriend ever, reading my mind and preempting my every need and want, ensuring I am happy at every single moment of the day we are together, making me melt again and again everyday with his love and gestures, planning for the future together, loving me in everyway possible……

Today my darling made what is to me, one of the ultimate declarations of love. One which is not only akin to marriage but possibly even more permanent than marriage itself.

The line ‘Amanda Yap for eternity’ in my own handwriting is now tattooed on my darling’s right arm.

Many would say “You both just met. Isn’t this a huge declaration?”. Yes that’s exactly what it is. A huge declaration to the world and everyone who knows us. It may be soon and we may have accelerated the dating process. But we are so sure. Nothing has ever felt this right. And there’s no one else who’s a more perfect fit for me.

Skeptics or cynics would say that this is silly or that this is a mistake. I would have agreed - 1 month before today. That is, until I felt the purity of his love. Now I wish that everyone in the world could experience what my darling has given me. I feel like I’m floating on a cloud. If there was a Could 10, I’d be elevated to that. I just want to hug everyone and shout it from the mountain tops.

This is it. This is the real thing. Through blood, sweat and tears, we have been promised to each other.

My darling, you have succeeded in making me levitate.

I can’t wait to make it official.

Paper into fettucinni

After 1 month of working on Guinness, I finally have a day where I can work at a comfortable pace and not have to run around breathless. I even have time to blog and clear up the mass of papers on my table. Cleared out about 2 reams of paper. Sat at the paper shredder machine for a few minutes and fed paper and saw them all being shredded to fettucinni-like shapes. I like shredding. Something about the sound and how one thing changes shape into another. And the feeling of minor destruction. I rather like demolishing things really. I’d like to go to a Greek festival and shatter plates on the floor. I’d like to set fire on stuff and make it go up on smoke. I’d like to operate one of those machines with the big metal ball and send it crashing into the side of a building and create a big gaping hole. Or even better still, place dynamite under a building, press a button and see the entire thing come crashing down.

Hmmmm …. That’s rather unbecoming of sweet little Bubbles. I don’t know whats gotten into me. Maybe it’s the mounting stress from work and since I can’t actually do most of the stuff, talking about it is the next best thing.

Happy Full Moon Baby Isabelle

Fruitcake is a mother. And I’m a (fairy) god mother. It’s been a month and it still feels surreal. Even Baby Isabelle’s baby shower on Sat, 3rd Feb didn’t do anything to make it more real. Asked Gerry if the party and clubbing mode in her has been switched off due to the baby. She says no. So as soon as she’s well and out of confinement, we’ll try going clubbing and see if the Freaky Fruitcake returns. Esp since Isabelle was conceived in one of the heights of the Fruitcake / Bubbles clubbing mode.

True to form, Swing and Chivas were served and the old Viva kaki were catching up on the good old times of our home club. That was 7 years ago. Some are married (to each other) and have kids. And some are on the way there.

I’m not as freaked out these days holding a baby. Maybe it’s the age. At least I didn’t hold Isabelle at arm’s length. Enjoyed playing with Puppy Too tho. Maybe I’ll play with Isabelle more when she’s grows up a little and is less fragile.

Happy Full Moon Baby Isabelle!

Bubbles turns 30!

1st February 2007

Happy 30th birthday to Bubbles! And this year, my party was different from the others.

1. I actually had it on the eve and flowing into the actual day. This is compared to having it a month later or even in October. I don’t blame my friends for wishing me happy birthday throughout the year.

2. I had it small. Only 30 friends. Compared to 80 people last year.

3. It’s not in a club! Well, had it in Somo which is a bar which we eventually turned into our own little club but that’s besides the point.

4. Had the opposite of Flaming Lamborghini. Had this drink which is called Anarchy or something which is freezing cold and has 4 shots of brandy mixed with fruit juice and crushed ice. Had it twice, apart from the Guinness, whiskey, some cocktails and Moet.

With my darling Paul

Paul bought me a Powerpuff birthday cake!
And Fossil watches designed by Philippe Starck. Matching black and white. So sweet.

A toast to my 3rd decade!

Let's get more Moet!

Getting there but not drunk yet.

Straight from the tap with the gang from Somo.

Kissy kissy!

More kisses!

And more! (There were a lot more kisses throughout the night but i believe that those present would want them to be censored).

And one should always end the night with a pint of Guinness.

Thank you to all my friends who came to the party and making it memorable. Well i know it was fun but i don't remember much by about 2am..........

Here's to a fantasic 3rd decade. Life begins at 30. Yay!

Saatchi's trip to Chiang Mai

4.45am Friday 26th Jan 2007

Bubbles Doesn’t Bounce at 4 in the morn

Sitting at my lobby now waiting for Michelle. All is still and dark. Think I hear a criket. Could be a bird tho. I’m hungry. And sleepy. Need coffee. Its too early.

Cedric is glad to be going on a hol!

Cedric feels bored on the flight and decides to make some new friends

10.20am

Malaysian time tho I think we’re flying over Thailand now so technically it should be 9.29am. Well 10.30 am now after I finish this sentence.

Things to do on a Air Asia flight where the seats are small and cramped, there’s no in-flight TV programmes, you have to pay for food and you’re not allowed to drink any alcohol even if you bring your own and buy the mixers from them.

  1. Run sideways up and down the alley
  1. Lie down flat on the alley, taking up about 67sft of the very limited floor space.
  1. Say “Hi. I’m Bubbles. I’m your flight attendant on this flight. The menu is located in the pocket of the seat in front of you. May I take your order for any food or drinks? Our special for today is the nasi lemak”. Take order. Be mindful of the seat numbers. Pass the order list to air stewardess. Ensure they don’t think it’s a joke or there will be many angry and hungry passengers on the plane.
  1. Play chor tai ti using the numbers on a one ringgit. Lionel pulled this one out of the rabbit’s hat but did manage to entertain me for about 10 minutes.
  1. Blog. Even if its pen to paper. Then typing it out once a PC becomes available and posting it on Blogger.
  1. Have a barf bag design competition among the passengers.

Finally we arrive and get fed. Cedric is hungry too but sits in a bowl while waiting for the rice to be served.
In a mini bus exploring Chiang Mai

Saturday night. The party begins!

Too many pics taken from the party. So won't post them all here.

The Amount of Work Done in One Day

The company is going for a trip to Chaing Mai. We leave this Fri and back on Sun. And due to the office being closed just that one day on Fri, the amount of work we have to do to make up for it is phenomenal. Not had much time to drink water, smoke, not to mention go to the loo today. It's amazing how much work we output in just one day. Gotta go. More work. Forever rushing. Guinness is great but it's killing me. I kinda miss save, secure, mundane Olay.

One Moment

Just before Christmas I spoke to God. I asked him for a man.

A man who would make me happy. Just looking at him would make me smile.

A man with face I can love more and more each day.

A man whom I can respect. One whom I can look up to. Literally and metaphorically.

A man with ambition and drive. To be strong and achieves what he wants.

A man who will take care of me. And let me take care of him in return.

A man who would hold my hand. And I’ll know that it’s a perfect fit.

A man with whom I’ll have similar interests yet see me as an individual.

A man who lived close by. And You granted that he lives up the road from me.

A man who’s kisses would send shockwaves down my spine. And make my skin tingle.

A man who would put me first as he will come first in my life.

A man who will share my hopes and dreams. And weave new ones together.

A man who’s the missing piece of the puzzle. Who’s the right fit for me.

A man who would love me as much as I love him.

A man who’s a man and not a boy.

Thank you God for sending me that very man.

The last week has been amazing, wonderful, weird and natural at the same time.

And it all happened in one single moment.

All that I’ve been through in life before this; all the ups and the downs. The joys and the frustration. The tears and the doubts. All the lessons learnt. They have all prepared me for this one single moment.

One moment. One life changing moment.

I can’t wait for the future to happen.

Commando Rabbit in the Jungle

Over the weekend, Commando Rabbit wanted to hone his millitery skills so we went into the jungle with Lionel Kokonut Soldier and Old Man Gus.

Commando Rabbit checks the vehicle to ensure there are no bombs and everything is in working order. We had to cross rought terrain which were blocked by falling trees, and 2 rivers to get to campsite.
Commanda Rabbits takes a rest after a long and hard day of travelling through the dangerous jungle. He sleeps with one eye open, just in case. You can't see the eye but it doesn't mean that he's not watching you. He was up all night gurading us while we slept, fending off all the wild animals.

Commando Rabbit surveys the terrain. He concludes that the campsite is safe to set up camp and is less prone to attacks. Or at least we will have access to fresh water and have a vantage point.
Commado Rabbit checking that the vehicle is in order so that we can make our way out of the jungle. Finally back into town, totally famished. Commando Rabbit takes a rest while waiting for lunch to be served. He had a good time hunting in the jungle in stealth mode. He is after all, a Commando Rabbit.

Forgive Me Flowers

Today i received a beautiful bunch of flowers (pics to be posted up soon. Didn't bring camera today). Came as a real surprise as it wasn't any special day for me. Flipped open the card and it was from someone who pissed me off real bad yesterday.

Have not received 'Please forgive me' flowers before and really don't know what to make of it. Yes the flowers did make me smile as it was such a lovely sight in the middle of a very stressing work day. But whether I'm less angry, I'm not quite sure.

All i know is that the flowers were a right move.

I can smell the scent of the lilies as i type this.

How to steal a Spring Onion

Monday 8 Jan 2007

Sin Cyn, Michelle Shell, Salt Boy Soon Min and I were at our favourite coffee shop in Sec 17 waiting for our food when Sin Cyn spotted a basket of spring onion. She commented that she was making baked potatoes that night and didn't want to buy a whole bunch from the store and that she only needed one stalk and wondered of she should take one stalk from the basket. She passed her hand bag over, Salt Boy unzipped it, I placed a stalk in and she zipped the bag up. We stole a spring onion!

Sin Cyn is the mastermind. Bubbles is the stealer. Salt Boy is the accomplice. Michelle Shell didn't do anything but she did witness it, so she's the accessory!

Malaysia & Singapore Vintage Car Register - 1st Meeting of 2007

Sunday 6 Jan 2007

Wijay says that I FFKed him in Dec for the MSVCR meeting. Didn’t exactly FFK him but I decided to go for this one in Jan even though it starts at 8 in the morning! On a Sunday! What a mad hour. And on a Sunday!

Anyway he was sweet to come n pick me up in his Triumph Spitfire. Such a sexy topless car. I maintain that this car needs a name. Mustard Bastard and Cyan Diane (I named her!) both have names so it’s really unfair that the Spitfire doesn’t have one. At least Wijay admits that she’s a ‘she’. So we can start working with that.

Arrived in Gazebo to meet the rest of the classic and vintage car drivers. There were a lot of lovely cars, some in immaculate conditions. Turnout was good. We had about 25 cars, from Minis to Opels to Austin Haleys to Beemers.

Karamjit Singh was there with his Opel. I forget the model.

Thereafter we drove to Klang for breakfast. It was a very nice drive with lovely weather. Wind in the hair with the top down kinda thing. I’m just missing my scarf and Jackie O sunglasses.

Michael is the head of the club and being an ex traffic cop, he has the police siren and the loud speaker in his vintage Volvo. So when the 25 cars were convoying, he stops his car in the middle of a roundabout, turns on the sirens, stops all other traffic and makes sure we all stay in convoy and no car is left behind! And once we’re along on our way, he’ll miraculously appear at the next roundabout or traffic light to stop traffic for us again! Michael, you the man!

Not sure if I’ll join them again in Feb (they meet every first Sun of the month) but I sure had fun. Maybe I’ll join them once I get the RX7 Savannah up and running.

Dying on the new account

Say hello to the new account manager on Guinness Malaysia! That is if i survive the role. P&G was such a nice, comfortable account to work on. And the Bubbles being Bubbles, got bored and had to find something more exciting. So here i am at work almost 8pm, not totally done with work yet. Good thing I'm nit hungry cos have been munching on Dunkin Donuts all day. I've not had a chance to blog at all for the past few days. So once again, here are some outdated posts.

Motherhood is surreal

Lil Baby Isabelle Halle Ng

Went to visit Fruitcake in the hospital and to see my god daughter. Not quite sure why they call babies bundles of joy. I was excited but didn’t know what to do with her except stare at her when she slept and look away when she’s screaming her lungs out. She’s kinda pink, smells flowery (that could be the baby powder tho) and feels like velvet.

I look at the baby Isabelle and it feels surreal that she is Fruitcake’s. That this whole new person, this baby, came from Fruitcake. And Fruitcake herself feels the same! Feels surreal that she had a baby and that she’s now a mother. Says it probably won’t sink in till the second kid comes along. Hahaha!

Guess some people are born for motherhood and are just dying to get pregnant. While it doesn’t come as naturally to others. I think I fall in the latter group.

Fruitcake and I discussed this a while ago. We’ll probably never really be ready to be a mother so just adopt the ‘Fuck it, just do it’ attitude.

And she’s gone ahead to do just that. So the next few years will prove whether we adopted the right strategy.

And for me, I’ll have a lil person to dote on to prep me for motherhood if it happens.

Honest Fucker

Recently I went out for drinks with a friend of a friend. He was tall (6ft2). Good looking with chiseled features. Chinese (I’ve always liked Chinese men. Marsupial says I’m in an ah beng phase tho I don’t totally agree. But of western nationality. Spoke good English. We were communicating on the same plane.

Almost sounds like the perfect guy. Especially since I can’t seem to find men Chinese men who are taller than me, what more when I'm in heels!

Until he brought up the topic of sex and invited me to his place for some action. And said that that was all he was looking for.

Another burst bubble. Oh well. At least he was an honest fucker.

Welcome Isabelle Halle

Got a call from Sonic Hedgehog Ed that Gerry the Fruitcake has delivered a healthy baby girl, my god daughter. Can't wait to see her. Wonder of Gerry is well enough for me to visit them at the hospital this evening. Yay to Baby Isabelle! Welcome to the world!

What I've Learnt in 2006

2nd Jan 2007

2006 has passed in a blink of an eye. Seems like time flies faster the older u get. And apparently once you have kids, it goes by even faster.

So here we are, 2 days into 2007. What has the last year thought me?

That life isn’t easy but we push on anyway.

That we are fearful but what matters is how we handle the fear.

That many people settle for less in life because they are scared of losing what they have now even though they have a chance to achieve what they truly desire.

That we should appreciate and preserve the past because it is through that that we are where we are now.

That I can’t eat cute looking food.

That people can promise you the world but until they bring it to you, it’s all lies.

That we can never truly follow a plan because Murphy’s always round the corner. But we need to plan anyway.

That I sometimes need to say no, even to friends.

That karma does actually happen, whether u know it or not.

That we can make time if something is important enough. “I’m busy” simply means “you are not a priority”.

That my parking prayer works even in the most high traffic areas.

That some people take longer to learn a lesson and need to make the mistake a dozen times before they learn it. But it’s a lesson they need to learn by themselves.

That I cannot be angry when a friend does not heed my advice. Even if it’s like watching helplessly as a car wreck happens in front of u. Sometimes, for several times till the car is totalled. All we can do is be there for the person while they recover from the hurt.

That people are cowards and rather avoid situations till it blows up in their face rather than take charge and fix the problem themselves.

That sometimes friends go away for a while but the true ones are those who return eventually.

That there’s heads and there’s tails but they’re still part of the same coin.

2006 was one of the toughest years for me despite how it looked from the outside. I would not have made it though the year was it not for certain friends.

To all my friends who have come and gone. To the friends who stayed through the good and the bad. To the friends who didn’t only call when they needed something or when their partners were not around. To all the friends who indulged my burst of energy and Bubble Moments.

I only hope that I was as much a friend to you as you were to me. I love you.

Happy 2007!

1st Jan 2007

First day of the new year! Happy New Year! Kevin the Random Soy picks me up 2 hours late. By which time I was starving. Most cafes and bistros were closed so we ended up in a coffee shop for some yummy pan mee. Thereafter we headed to Low Yat Plaza where we tried several tactics of negotiation before he purchased his Palm TX.

We were done by 3.30pm. I asked him if he still wanted to go to PD. And it was meant to be a day trip, mind you. He said yes so we headed out of the city. He took a wrong turn. And then another. Sorry, there were no wrong turns. He meant to take the scenic route

Eventually, we ended back in the city. So we called the trip off. And decided to play tourist.

We had Arabic tea is some Arabic Café.

Had Malacca coffee at Asia Café. Very authentic and quaint. Liked the old portraits. Checked out the antiques. Sadly, the people who go there are tourists. Locals don’t seem to appreciate our own heritage.

Went to Chinatown and bought a wand to complete my fairy outfit. It’s also to grant wishes for my god daughter on the day she is going to be born, just like the fairy god mothers in Sleepy Beauty.

Had teh tarik in Di Tebing near Merdeka Square. Have always driven past the place as it is very strategically located but have never thought to go there. We went anyway despite stares from a few Malay people, with that typically being their hangout and all.

Went to Coffee Bean Mont Kiara but every table was taken so we ended up in Starbucks.

Overall, a fun, interesting and relaxing day even though nothing went according to plan.
